Bubbles and Bites with Veuve Clicquot

I recently attended a Veuve Clicquot event at Pinea in the W Hotel with several of my friends. Veuve Clicquot kicks off Spring by launching #ClicquotJourney ~ an event series traveling through 21 US cities. They are bringing unique and stylish events as guests sample their Yellow Label and Rosé. More information and event dates can be found on their website.
Veuve Clicquot (pronounced vuhv – klee – koe) is one of the world’s most recognized brands of champagne and was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot. The yellow label is predominately Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier rounding out the blend. It is a medium bodied and structured wine. It balances fresh, fragrant fruit with rich aromas of brioche and vanilla. The soft, creamy texture maintains a bright acidity.
The Rosé shares the same structure as the Yellow Label. The Cellar Master completes the base with a blend of red wines from selected black grapes. The resulting wine is fresh and creamy in texture. It offers a lightly smoky overtone to flavors of strawberry tart, pastry cream, grated coconut, and ground spice.
Pinea is filled with bright colors and natural light. Inspired by traditional Italian and Mediterranean flavors, the cuisine is elegant yet approachable. The hors d’oeuvres were amazing. Two of my favorites were the Spanish Octopus ~ cooked perfectly and the Prosciutto Salad ~ gorgeously highlighted by the Moscato infused melons.
Executive Chef, Barry Koslow, then treated us to Pan Seared Scallops, Spicy Seared Tuna, and Lamb Chops. Obviously, I was a huge fan of the lamb.
The concept of #ClicquotJourney is embracing “passion as a destination.” I think we accomplished that! Thank you so much to Pinea for hosting this event and inviting me out to experience the wines and foods.
I was thrilled to spend the evening with the ever-remarkable DC blogging community. Check out their individual pages at A Lacey Perspective, Spicy Candy DC, The Dining Traveler, Diego Downtown, and DC Fashion Fool.
