Ways to Make Your Wedding Unique #1: Group Activity

I was recently asked by my good friend Mollie, of Mollie Tobias Photography, to give my Top 10 ways to make your wedding unique. I found it was a challenge to limit each description so decided to make a series on my list. So, without further ado, Here is my #1.

Start at the Beginning! Show off your area with a Group Activity. Give your families an opportunity to get to know each other and bond while experiencing DC. We live in one of the most important cities but many guests don’t get to enjoy or appreciate the sites with the whirlwind schedule of a wedding. Even your closest friends that live in the area will appreciate relaxing and playing tourist.

I love to arrange a Monuments by Moonlight Tour after the rehearsal dinner or begin with it and end at a DC Icon such as Old Ebbitt Grill. Other great options are a Potomac River Cruise or Segway Tour. One of the local Ghost Tours show off some lesser known sites and give a quirky start to the weekend. The Georgetown Chocolate Tour is perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

If you’re wanting to escape the bustle of the city, take a trip out through Virginia’s gorgeous wine country. There are several wineries that would be perfect to host a relaxed tasting and cocktail hour or even your rehearsal dinner.

If structured tours don’t sound like your vibe, there are plenty of other fun options. Remember the real goal is to bring your families closer together. Laughing over Grandma in ugly bowling shoes and pearls or cheering over the flower girl’s mini-golf hole-in-one are the moments you will treasure.
